You will probably see a read-only box highlighted in blue a few times on the General tab of the file’s properties.
Windows stores computer file folders and their attributes in a database system along with the file folder name, extension, date and time, postage, and other information. The Check folder as read-only check box is not available because it is not associated with a folder. You can set this checkbox to the read-only attribute for files in a directory. However, you cannot use Windows Explorer to determine if a folder has system and read-only attributes. To determine which attributes can be set for a folder, perhaps to change these attributes, you must make full use of the Attrib command at the handle prompt.
I don’t know exactly what is causing your problem, but what people describe in the address folder is fine.

Why is my folder read only?
Read-only access is any attribute of a file/folder that grants permission to modify files or folders only to a specific group of users. If you cannot change the read-only status of a file, it means that you do not have sufficient permissions to do so. Try logging in as an administrator and try again.
